The main theme of the story, " quality " is to tell that making good quality things is not sufficient but the person should also know the way to advertise it or to do something by which every one will buy their products.

mr. Gessler was a good boot maker but he didn't know the way to advertise it properly so no costomers and no money . That's way he died out of hunger at last of the story.
