The means of entertainment at the court of Lilliputian king were very weird. They, also, determined the rank and file of the courtiers. The depiction of those entertainments is highly satirical in tone. For instance, entertainment through rope-dancing and stick jumping/crawling were two main yardsticks which determined the status of the courtiers and they were awards with the ribbons of different colors which they wore their waists proudly.
In fact, Swift satirizes the courtly manners and the selection of the high officials of the court by the king. The king does not follow any criterion based on merit system rather he selects the lords by the skills which he likes no matter how absurd they are.
