Bromine and air take about 15 minutes to completely diffuse but bromine diffuses in a vacuum very rapidly. Why is this so?

Answer:

when bromine diffuse in air the bromine particle bump into with already present air particle then the diffusion become slow. Then in vaccum no air particle are present so bromine easily and rapidly diffuse.for this above reason bromine and air take about 15 min to complete diffusion and in vaccum the bromine diffuse very fastly or easily.

Diffusion is the random movement of particles.In the diffusion process of bromine and air,the bromine particles continuously collide with the particles of air.This slows down the diffusion rate.But in vacuum there are no particles to collide.Hence bromine diffuses faster in vacuum than in air.
