Given : Bryce had a $25 gift card to use on songs and games at an online media store. Songs cost $2 each and games cost $5 each. Bryce spent all the money on the gift card to download 8 items.

To Find : equation represents the number of games and songs Bryce purchased

the amount Bryce spent on games and songs

Solution:

the number of songs    bought = s

the number of games    bought = g

equation represents the number of games and songs Bryce purchased

s + g = 8

the number of songs    bought = s

Song cost = 2 $

Total Song cost = 2s

the number of  games   bought = g

games cost = 5 $

Total  games cost = 5g

Total amount spent = 25 $

equation represents the amount Bryce spent on games and songs

2s  + 5g  = 25

s + g = 8 => 2s + 2g = 16

2s  + 5g  = 25

=> 3g = 9

=> g = 3

and s = 5

5 Songs bought and 3 games bought
