Thallophyta, Bryophyta, and pteridophyta are called cryptogams because the reproductive organs of these groups are inconspicious or hidden. Seeds are absent. Gymnosperms and angiosperms are called phenerogams because they have well diffrentiated reproductive tissue and the embryo with stored food.
