I have practiced Nichiren Shoshu True Buddhism Buddhism Definition for over 40 years. I am an American man and have studied every major Religion. The simple answer to your question if the woman lives in any Nation other than an Islamic one is, Yes of course!

For those of you living in Islamic Nations, or Nations run by Islamic Oligarhies (Note other than Athiest Socialist Nations, like China, there few other nations that are Oligarchies.), you should wake up and realize, Sharia Islamic Laws are not what most of the world follows. Also you should realize, in most nations on earth, women have equal rights as men to choose how they live their lives.

So back to the question and my wisdom. By far, Buddhism is the true religion of PEACE, because there has never been a war in the name of Buddhism. Judaism and Christianity have reformed their religions to be tolerant of other religions, accepting of women’s rights, homosexuality and basic human rights. Islam on the other hand is stuck in the Stoneage and needs badly to change. Life is way to short not to stand up for your rights, not speak out, and not to LIVE FREE. There is a really good reason WHY every Democracy on Earth has separation of Church (Religion) and State and the question asked above is part of that reason.

The Buddhist view of marriage considers marriage a secular affair[1] and as such, it is not considered a sacrament.[2] Buddhists are expected to follow the civil laws regarding marriage laid out by their respective governments.[2]

While the ceremony itself is civil, many Buddhists obtain the blessing from monks at the local temple after the marriage is completed.[1]
