  \large\boxed{ \bold{QUESTION}}

Budding is a process seen in eukaryotes only. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer.

  \large\boxed{ \bold{ANSWER}}

No, I don't agree to the statement, Budding is a process seen in some eukaryotes and some prokaryotes.

 \bold{REASONS}

☯Prokaryotes

  • As we know that bacteria is examples of prokaryotes. and they divide using binary fission although they even divide through budding.

  • Budding is less understood in prokaryotic world.

  • spider analogy as made us to know that even prokaryotes divides through budding.

  • During budding in some bacteria, the parent cell grows a tiny cell off of it. Eventually that tiny cell grows so large that it splits, or buds, from the parent cell.

☯Eukaryotes

  • We don't need to know about eukaryotes as we know that Hydra and yeast are examples of eukaryotes.

  • Both Hydra and yeast reproduce with Budding.

So we are clear that Budding is a process seen in some eukaryotes and some prokaryotes.

But still we will have some confusion what is actually prokaryotes and eukaryotes and what is Budding. don't worry let me give you a brief description.

  \large\boxed{ \bold{</p><p>LET'S  \: EXPLORE \:  MORE</p><p>}}

✏Prokaryotes

  • The nucleus of the bacterial cell is not well-organised. There Is no nuclear membrane. The cells having nuclear material without nuclear membrane are termed prokaryotic cells.

  • The organisms with these kinds of cells are called prokaryotes (pro: primitive; karyon: nucleus).

  • Examples are bacteria and blue green algae.

✏Eukaryotes

  • The cells, like onion cells and cheek cells having well-organised nucleus with a nuclear membrane are designated as eukaryotic cells.

  • All organisms other than bacteria and blue green algae are called eukaryotes. (eu : true; aryon: nucleus).

Now we are clear what is eukaryotes and prokaryotes. now let's jump to budding

✏Budding

  • Budding is a form of asexual reproduction in which cell division leads to the formation of a bud on the body of the parent organism.

  • Hydra and Yeast are examples of Budding.

  • Yeast is a unicellular organism. It reproduces by sending out a small outgrowth from the cell, called a bud, which grows and eventually separates from the parent cell.

  • Hydra is a multicellular organism, which also reproduces by budding. First, a bud forms on the body of the Hydra. It then develops tentacles and a mouth then it becomes a new Hydra. after it breaks away from the parent body and becomes a separate individual.
