buffer stock Is a stock of foodgrains say wheat and rice which is procured by government through f c I (food corporation of India). the FCI Purchases food grains from farmers at a pre announced price also known as minimum support price. every year this price changes. the buffer stock is mainly used to provide food to the poorer strata in the community through ration shops (also known as fair price shop) at half of the market price called issue price.
