Given:-

S=10 cm=1/10 m

u= 20 m/s

v=0 m/s

a=?

Solution :-

By 3rd Eqⁿ of motion :-

=> v² - u² = 2aS

=> a = (v² - u²)/2S

=> -400/2(1/10)

=> -2000 m/s²

Acceleration is -2000 m/s²

Or deceleration/retardation of 2000 m/s².

Where u--->initial velocity

v----> final velocity

a----->acceleration/retardation

S----->penetrating dist.
