According to Archimedes

principle, any body completely or partially submerged in a fluid at rest is acted upon by an upward or buoyant force whose magnitude is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.

∴ Loss in weight of body = Weight of water (liquid) displaced by the body = Buoyant force or upthrust exerted by water (any liquid) on the body.

Hence, the buoyant force on a submerged object equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

Explanation:

Archimedes' principle is the statement that the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. The simplicity and power of this idea is striking. If you want to know the buoyant force on an object, you only need to determine the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.
