Diesel is more harmful on water because it floats on the surface and is very persistent. In terms exhaust from burning gasoline or diesel in an IC engine, they both have their own problems. Diesel engines produce more NOx and tiny particulates while gasoline vehicles emit more CO and VOC's (unburned hydrocarbons).

diesel is more harmful

Diesel fuel contains more energy per litre than petrol and coupled with the fact that diesel engines are more efficient than petrolengines, diesel cars are more efficient to run.

In recent years the composition of diesel fuelhas become less toxic anddiesel engines have become more efficient; however, inhaling dieselfumes over an extended period of time can still lead to acute or short-term health effects.
