Burning of candle is chemical change but melting of a ice is a physical change why???

taehyung39: burning of candle is a chemical change as a new substance is formed and in melting of ice there is no new substance fromed
bishnoisuraj829: Melting of wax( due to heat) is a physical chage that occurs prior to the oxidation. The physical changes in the candle is that the wax melts, then freezes back into solid state again, and the chemical changes are that the wick burns, soot, and smoke.

Melting of ice is a physical change because it involves change only in the physical state of water, from ice in the solid state to water in the liquid state.

Melting of ice is a physical change because it involves change only in the physical state of water, from ice in the solid state to water in the liquid state. Moreover, no new chemical substance is formed in the process and this change is reversible. Water can be converted back into ice simply by freezing.
