Burning of a candle is a chemical change....In the case of chemical change,new molecules are formed..Eg of chemical change-Rusting of iron,Burning of wood......

Melting of candle is a physical change....During a physical change only a change in the arrangement of molecules occur.Hence it can be easily brought back to its orginal state.Eg of physical change-Water becomes water vapour,Ice turns into water....

burning of candle is chemical change because thread is burnt and we can't make it again in its original form. but it is also physical change because melting of wax does not change its properties.
