yes it is very true that burining causes loss of weight of paper. but it is so not true that it does not follow the law of conservation of mass.
what happen is when the paper is burnt the ashes of the paper is so small that it is practically impossible to for the ashes to stay on the surface .i.e. with even the very little wind it blows away seems the failure of the law.
