Bus of mass 5000 kg starts from rest and Rolls down hill ..if it travels a distance of 2000 in 10 seconds calculate the acceleration and the force acting on the bus.

m = 5000 Kg

S = 2000 m

t = 10 s

u = 0

To find:-

Acceleration and force acting on the bus .

Solution:-

  • Using equation of motion we have ,

 S = ut + \dfrac{1}{2}at^2

 2000 = 0 \times 10 + \dfrac{1}{2}a (10)^2

 2000 = \dfrac{a}{2}\times 100

 2000 = 50a

 a = \dfrac{2000}{50}

 a = 40m/s^2

hence,

Acceleration will be 40 m/s².

Force acting on the bus in given by :-

 F = ma

F = 5000 \times 40

 F = 200000 N

hence,

Force acting on the bus will be 20,0000 N.
