Given : Bus P runs 15% faster than bus Q. Since both buses have to start from stop M and reach stop N at the same time, bus P gives bus Q a start of 6 km.

To Find : What is the distance between the two stops

Solution:

Let say Distance between = D km

P gives bus Q a start of 6 km

Distance covered  by Q in Time T = D - 6 km

Distance covered by P in Time T = D km

=> D/T = (D - 6)/T  (1 + 15/100)

=> D  = (D - 6)1.15

=> 0.15D = 6 * 1.15

=> D = 46

Hence distance between the two stops = 46 km
