Given: Bus route A starts at the bus station and takes 40 minutes.

Bus route B also starts at the bus station and takes 30 minutes.

Both routes begin at 9am

To Find : At what time do both routes leave the bus station at the same time for the fourth time in the day?

Solution:

Bus route A starts at the bus station and takes 40 minutes.

Bus route B also starts at the bus station and takes 30 minutes.

Both will leave at the same time again LCM (40 , 30)

40 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 5

30 = 2 * 3 * 5

LCM = 2* 2 *2 * 3 * 5  = 120

120 mins = 2 hrs

Buses leave together every 2 hrs

Buses leaves for 1st time at 9 : 00 AM

Buses leaves for 2nd time at 11 : 00 AM

Buses leaves for 3rd time at  1: 00 PM

Buses leaves for 4th time at  3 : 00 PM
