Given

A bus starting from rest moves along a straight road with a uniform acceleration of 3 m/s² for 6 seconds

To FInd

( i ) Velocity acquired

( ii ) Distance travelled

Solution

Initial velocity , u = 0 m/s

[ ∵ starts from rest ]

Acceleration , a = 3 m/s²

Time , t = 6 s

Final Velocity , v = ? m/s

Distance , s = ? m

Apply 1 st equation of motion ,

v = u + at

⇒ v = (0) + (3)(6)

⇒ v = 0 + 18

v = 18 m/s

So , Velocity acquired is 18 m/s

Distance travelled , s = ? m

Apply 3 rd equation of motion ,

v² - u² = 2as

⇒ (18)² - (0)² = 2(3)s

⇒ 324 - 0 = 6s

⇒ 6s = 324

s = 54 m

So , distance travelled is 54 m

Acceleration(a)=3m/s²

Time(t)=6s

To find:-

i.Final velocity(v)

ii.Distance travelled(s)

Solution:-

By using the first equation of motion when u=0 ,we get-----

=>v=at

=>v=3×6

=>v=18m/s

By using the second equation of motion when u=0 ,we get-----

=>s=1/2at²

=>s=1/2×3×(6)²

=>s=3×18

=>s=54m

Thus----

i.Final velocity is 18m/s

ii.Distance travelled is 54m.
