bus starts with some passengers one fourth of the passengers get off at first stop 6 at second and 8 at the last. if 16 passengers are left in the bus how many were there in the beginning in the bus

so,
 x - (\frac{x}{4}  + 6 + 8) = 16
After solving the equation we get x= 40
