Provided that:

  • There are bus X and Y.

  • Bus X travels a distance of 450 km in 5 hours. Let us consider it as case first.

  • Bus Y travels a distance of 567 km in 7 hours. Let us consider it as case second.

To determine:

  • Which bus is faster and why!?

Using concept:

  • Formula to calculate velocity.

Using formula:

  • {\small{\underline{\boxed{\pmb{\sf{Velocity \: = \dfrac{Distance}{Time}}}}}}}

Required solution:

~ Firstly let us calculate velocity in case first by using suitable formula!

→ Velocity = Distance/Time

→ Velocity = 450/5

→ Velocity = 90 kmph

~ Now let us find out the velocity in case second by using suitable formula!

→ Velocity = Distance/Time

→ Velocity = 567/7

→ Velocity = 81 kmph

~ Now let us carry on!

Car X is faster as compared to car Y. Because its velocity is more as compared to car Y.
