because she wasn't educated she could not read and was too ashamed to ask other people to help her out. all this made her realise the importance of education and she decided to learn the language at a very old age. her passion to learn, her determination, her hard-work was highlighted and as a result she got a fruitful-reward- she could now read and write...

The grandmother thought that because when her granddaughter had went to the nearby village to attend a wedding the weekly magazine (Karmaveera) came as usual but she cannot read it because she was illiterate this circumstance lead her to realise the importance of education.
