Butter turns into liquid if kept outside on a hot day

Two things spring to mind.

Your fridge might be getting a bit too cold. I had this problem; I always kept butter outside in a covered dish, but my wife has always stuck it in the fridge. Every time she did, it went too hard. I turned the fridge down a notch, then another, until the butter went like it should. Everything else in the fridge didn’t show any signs of perishing quickly, so I assumed that the thermostat was over-reacting, and stuck a thermo in and got 3.5 degrees. It’s supposed to be at or below 4 degrees C- if you’ve got a thermometer stick one in, leave it for an hour and see what it comes out at. If it’s too low, there’s your problem.

Or it might be that you’re not getting easily spreadable butter, in which case the above might not help. In that case you can get butter dishes. There are some that are made of materials that stay cool, but in a hot country they might not work too well. A couple of firms make a temperature controlled dish. You don’t find them much in the UK as we don’t need them, but I should think hot countries would be a prime market. Have a look on your local Google and see if you can find one.
