because buttermilk is acidic in nature. It reacts with metal n produce hydrogen and salt

Buttermilk contains lactic acid....!

Brass or copper reacts with lactic acid present in buttermilk and poisonous salts are formed .....

Hence.. Buttermilk will spoil if kept in these containers!!
