Answer:
First of all there is no comparison between a a BAMS degree holder and a veterinarian. I am 100% sure that no one of you will prefer to go to a BAMS in a life threatning or emergency condition or even in most of the conditions. Secondly some are saying that you have privilage to use dr. prefix after your bams degree, but now government is making a rule that vaidya prefix and not dr. can be used by bams degree holders. The field has its own limitations regarding services which they can offer.Getting into veterinary field is much more tough than getting into BAMS.Even courses are tough and a veterinarian can treat all animal species present on earth except human. Its not a easy job. Some of my classmates has even left there mbbs seat to get into veterinary profession because of love for animals. As others have already discussed, that your interest matters most whether you want to treat animals or humans….but scopewise there is literally no comparison between a BAMS graduate and veterinarian. if you look at starting pay of a veterinarian and a bams degree holder you will see the difference even in private sector .I have seen bams graduates on 15 k/month while you will never see a vet below 25k/month in any condition. Morever a B.V.Sc and AH is the most diverse degree you will come across….a veterinarian is recruited by private companies in cooperative sector, milk meat sector, pharmaceuticals, nabard bank, remount veterinary corps of indian army (commissioned as captain), assistant commandant post in paramilitary(bsf, crpf, itbp) ,private pet or large animal practice,in public health research regarding zoonotic and emerging diseases(WHO also recruits veterinarians),in feed plants,in companies like nestle, amul, and as veterinary officer in government sector,in national parks, zoo. Last but not the least government sector, there is stagnation in field of ayurvedic medicine. Government jobs is a rarity in bams.Graduates who have completed their bams degree 10-15 years back are getting jobs presently so lag is long here . In veterinary practice it takes about 3-4 years max. For a veterinarian to get into government sector that too with greater pay scale.veterinary science is advancing day by day all over the world…use of diagnostics like xray, ultrasound….laboratory techniques like pcr,ria are common in veterinary practice…..in veterinary science you can do postgraduation in about 20 subjects depending upon your choice which includes subjects like veterinary medicine, veterinary surgery and radiology ,veterinary immunology, pathology, public health, gynaecology and obstetrics, veterinary anatomy, veterinary pharmacology, animal nutrition.Besides curing animals you can contribute to nations GDP by increasing animal production so contrary to the common notions a veterinarian can work at different levels. Can you think of any other degree degree programme that offers this much scope??? and some guys are pointing regarding respect so let me tell you that it depends on any individual how he treats and approaches owners.i have myself seen this. Owner respects you like anything if you are sincere to your profession. To conclude this i will say that at last professional or individual itself matters . how sincere one is to his/her profession decides how successful one will be in their life. And to get respect in society it takes 10–15 years of good practice in any field related to medicine be it medico, vet, dentist or and ayurvedic graduate. Thanks and have a nice day……
hope it helps u.....
