It has given that, polynomial 3x⁴ - 4x³ - 3x - 1 is divided by x + 1.

To find : quotient and remainder

Solution : by actual division method, 3x⁴ - 4x³ - 3x - 1 is divided by (x + 1)

x + 1)3x⁴ - 4x³ - 3x - 1(3x³ - 7x² + 7x -10

       3x⁴ + 3x³

...........................

             -7x³ - 3x

             -7x³ - 7x²

...................................

                     7x² - 3x

                     7x² + 7x

..........................................

                           -10x -1

                           -10x - 10

...................................................

                                    +9

Therefore quotient = 3x³ - 7x² + 7x - 10 and remainder is 9
