By coincidence, William's Paint Supplies sold equal quantities of two paint colours yesterday: yellow and blue. All yellow paint comes in 9-litre containers while blue paint is sold in containers of 18 litre. What is the smallest amount of each paint colour the store must have sold? You will need to show your working out to this in the next question

Answer:

39

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets quantity of Yellow sold be x and blue sold be y

since it is given in that sh sold equal quantities,

we have x=y

and the number of containers of x sold will be

x/3(since each container carries 3L)

and for y it will be y/13

so minimum number of cans sold should be x/3+y/13

=16x/39=16y/39

and the minimum amount of colour that will be sold is 39 L
