Given : (k + 1)/9 = 4/(5k + 2)

The Given Equation can be written as,

= > (5k + 2)(k + 1) = (9 * 4)

= > 5k^2 + 5k + 2k + 2 = 36

= > 5k^2 + 7k + 2 = 36

= > 5k^2 + 7k - 34 = 0

= > 5k^2 - 10k + 17k - 34 = 0

= > 5k(k - 2) + 17(k - 2) = 0

= > (5k + 17)(k - 2) = 0

= > k = -17/5, 2.

Hope this helps!
