It can be easily done by factor theorem
x³ - 6x² + 11x + k = 0 ...(1)
x - 1 = 0
x = 1
put the value of x in equation 1.
(1)³ - 6(1)² + 11(1) + k = 0
1 - 6 + 11 + k = 0
1 + 5 + k = 0
6 + k = 0
k = (-6)
