The number  =  \frac{143}{350} \\

GIVEN:- 3/7 and 2%

TO FIND:- by how much is 3/7 larger than 2%

SOLUTION:-

  • Percentage implies fraction or ratio expressed in terms of 100. Therefore 2℅ = 2/100

According to the question we need to find a number by which 3/7 is larger than 2%

Let the number by how much 3/7 is larger than 2% be x

 \frac{3}{7}  - x = 2\% \\ \frac{3}{7}  - x =  \frac{2}{100}  \\  \frac{3}{7}  -  \frac{2}{100}  = x

Making both the denominators equal by taking LCM

 \frac{3 \times 100}{7 \times 100}  -  \frac{2 \times 7}{100 \times 7}  = x \\  \frac{300}{700}  -  \frac{14}{700}  = x \\  \frac{300 - 14}{700}  = x \\  \frac{286}{700}  = x \\ x =  \frac{143}{350}

Hence, the number =  \frac{143}{350}  \\
