IITGenius: no no
TooFree: Sorry .. ask again ... rephrase your question.
IITGenius: what i am asking is that in this question in the first subtraction when x^4 got cancelled, after that -1 and -x^3 remained right?
IITGenius: continuing my doubt
TooFree: x^3 remain .. not - x^3 ... because -(- x^3) = x^3
IITGenius: yes yes that onky
IITGenius: only
TooFree: yes .. so x^3 - 1 remain
IITGenius: look what i am asking is that -1 and -x^4 can not be subtracted so you wrote down the highest powered no. that is x^3 and then lower powered no. -1 and then changed the sign
TooFree: I dont understand what you mean by "change the sign" ..

we multiply the x^3 with (x - 1) and we got (x^4 - x^3)

Then we subtract (x^4 - 1) - (x^4 - x^3) and we got (x^3 - 1)
