Explanation:

  • Zinc is a melting metal of group 12 and it is the most widely used and essential element.
  • So a “x” substance is added to zinc and “y” gas is produced.
  • If an acid or base is reacted with zinc, hydrogen gas is produced.
  • If zinc reacts with acid it produces hydrogen gas.
  • So the equation of reaction  is :
  • Zn(s)+2HCl(aq)- > ZnCl2(aq)+H2(g)
  • The acid reacted is hydrochloric acid and the gas formed is hydrogen gas.
