⇒ x + 2 = 0

⇒ now find P(-2)                     [ substitute x = -2 in P(x) ]    

⇒ P(-2) = 3(-2)⁴ - 4(-2)³ - 3(-2) -1

            = 3(16) - 4(-8) + 6 - 1

            = 48 - (-32) + 5

            = 48 + 32 + 5 =  85
