By selling 144 pigeons, Suriny lost the selling price of 6 of them. Find his loss per cent. Had he purchased them for 7200, what would have been the selling price of one pigeon?

WHY WE WILL ADD 6 IN 144 TO FIND LOSS PERCENT.

Answer:

we add 6 in 144 as Suriny suffered a loss while selling the pigeons so whenever its a loss question, we use the formula (to find C.P) :

C.P = S.P + loss

In this question :

S.P = 144

loss = 6

C.P = S.P + loss

so the C.P of suriny's pigeons will be : 144+6 = 150

we add six as it is the loss and loss is added to the S.P to find the C.P.

Hope it helps.
