SP of 20 articles = 100p

SP of one article = 100/20 = 5p

CP of one article = a

5/a x 100 = 90

a = 500/90= 5.56

CP of one article -  5.56p

No of article he bought Re.1 (100p) = 100/5.56 = 18

He bought 18 articles for Re1

Answer:

18 articles are bought for 1 Rupee.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the selling price of 20 articles = 1 Rupee = 100 paise

Selling price of 1 article is

\dfrac{100}{20} = 5paise

Given loss = 10%

Thus 100-10\%=90\%

And the cost price is given by

CP=\dfrac{SP}{100-Loss\%} \times 100

Placing the values in the above formula,

CP=\dfrac{5}{90} \times 100=\dfrac{50}{9}=5.56paise

Therefore, the cost price of one article =  5.56 paise

Number of articles bought 100 paise is

=\dfrac{100}{5.56}  = 17.98\approx 18

Hence, 18 articles are bought for 1 Rupee.
