Let the S.P. of each greeting card = x
therefore, S.P. of 35 greeting cards = 35x
similarly, S.P of 5 greeting cards = 5x
hence, the shopkeepers S.P. is 35x and his loss is 5x.
C.P of 35 greeting cards = S.P. + loss
                                               = 35x + 5x = 40x
Loss percentage = (loss/C.P.) × 100
                               = ( 5x/40x)  × 100
                               = 12.5

Therefore, loss percent = 12.5%
