The answer is 16%

GIVEN

By selling 42 apples a vendor losses the selling price of 8 apples.

TO FIND

The loss percent.

SOLUTION

The above problem can be simply solved as follows;

Let the cost price of 1 apple = x

Selling price of 42 apples = 42x

Loss = SP of 8 apples = 8x

It is konwn that,

Loss = CP - SP

CP of (42 + 8) 50 apples = 50x

Loss% = (Loss/CP)× 100

= (8x/50x) × 100

= 16%

Hence, The answer is 16%
