Let SP of each orange be x
Sp of 42 oranges = 42x
Loss = 8x
CP = Sp + Loss = 50x

Loss %
 =  \frac{loss}{cp}  \times 100

=
 \frac{8x}{50x}  \times 100 \\
=16%

Loss=8x
CP=SP+Loss
= 42x+8x
= 50x

Loss%=
=loss/CP x 100
= 8x/50x x100
=16%
