let price of each article be A,

then

S.P = 8A,

since

loss=2A,

then

C.P = 10A,

hence

%loss = loss/C.P × 100,

=2A/10A × 100,

= 100/5=20%

Loss = CP - SP
(CP of 2 pens) = (CP of 8 pens) - (SP of 8 pens)
(SP of 8 pens) = (CP of 8 pens) - (CP of 2 pens)
(SP of 8 pens) = (CP of 6 pens)

Let CP of 1 pen be Rs. 1

CP of 8 pens = Rs. 8
SP of 8 pens = CP of 6 pens = Rs. 6

CP is greater than SP
Therefore, loss = CP - SP
= 8 - 6 = Rs. 2

Loss % = Loss/CP × 100
= 2/8 × 100
= 25%
