Let the C.P. of that bicycle be x.

Now, since vinay losses 9%. Therefore, his loss would have been 9% of x = 9x /100

We know that, if their is a loss than,

S. P. + LOSS = C.P.

Therefore, S.P. = C.P. - LOSS --------- (1)

Now, we have S.P. = 819, C.P. = x and LOSS = 9x /100.

Substituting all these values in (1) we get

819 = x - (9x / 100)

819 = (100x - 9x) / 100

81900 = 91x

x = 81900 / 91

x = 900

Therefore, we have our C.P. of that bicycle as 900/-.

So, in order to make a profit of 5% on this bicycle having C.P. of 900/-. We would have to first find 5% of 900 and then add this to 900. We have done this because we want a profit of 5% on this bicycle.

So, 5% of 900 = 5 / 100 * 900

= 45

Now, we would add this to the C.P. of that bicycle.

So, 900 + 45 = 945/-

Ans... In order to sell that bicycle at a profit of 5% he sould have sell it at 945/- rs.

Given,

Selling Price = 819

Loss% = 9%

1.Finding cost price,

¤ Let cost price be 100

Loss%=9%

New cost price = 100 - [(9/100)*100]

= 100 - 9

= 91

Cost : Cost : : Sell : Sell

>> 100 : X. : : 91 : 819

»»» X = (819 * 100) / 91

»»» X = 900

#The cost price of Vinays bicycle was 900.

2.Finding selling price to make profit of 5%

¤Let new selling price is y

As He wants to be profit at 5%,

Selling price = 900 + [900 * ( 5 / 100 )]

= 900 + 45 = 945

He will need to sell the bicycle for 945.
