sp of bicycle=rs819
loss%=9%
cp of bicycle=100/(100-9)*sp
=>100/91*819 = 100*9 =900rs
required p%=5%
therefore new sp=(100+5)/100*900
=>105/100*900= 105*9 = 945rs

Answer:

Vinay has to sell the bicycle at Rs 945 to make a profit of 5%

Explanation:

i) Selling price of a bicycle (s.p) = Rs 819

Lose (l) = 9%

Let the cost price ( c.p) =Rs c

\boxed {c.p= \frac{s.p\times 100}{100-l}}

\implies c.p = \frac{819\times 100}{100-9}

\implies c.p = \frac{819\times 100}{91}

\implies c.p = 9\times 100

\implies c.p = Rs900

---(1)

ii) If Vinay wants sell it to make a profit 5%

Now ,

cost price (c.p) = Rs 900

gain (g) = 5%

selling price = s

\boxed {s.p =c.p\left(\frac{100+g}{100}\right)}

\implies s = 900\times \frac{100+5}{100}

\implies s = 9\times 105

\implies s = Rs\:945

Therefore,

Vinay has to sell the bicycle at Rs 945 to make a profit of 5%
