gain = 1/3x

SP = ₹ 3960

Now,

SP - CP = Gain

=> 3960 - x = 1/3x

=> 3960 = 1/3x + x

=> 3960 = (x + 3x)/3

=> 3960 = 4x/3

=> 3960 × 3 = 4x

=> ( 3960 ×3 )/4 = x

=> 990 × 3 = x

=> x = 2970

Hence , the CP of fan is ₹ 2970 .
