Let the cost price of the purse be 'x'.

Given that Selling price of the purse = 250.

Given that she loses (1/6) of what it costs her = (1/6) * x = x/6.

We know that cost price = selling price + Loss

= > x = 250 + (x/6)

= > 6x = 1500 + x

= > 5x = 1500

= > x = 300.

Hence, the cost price of the purse = 300.

(2)

We know that Loss = Cost price - Selling price

= > Loss = 300 - 250

= > Loss = 50.

We know that Loss% = (Loss/CP) * 100

= > (50/300) * 100

= > 50/3

= > 16.67%.

Hope this helps!
