let cp = 100

as there is a gain 5% = 100+ 5 = 105.

let cp of the radio = x

now doing as proportion

100/x = 105/903

cross multiplication

x*105 = 100*903

105x = 90300

x = 90300/105

x = 860 .

hence cost price of the radio = 860.

Answer:

Let the cost price (CP) of the radio be Rs x.

The selling price of the radio = SP = Rs 903.

Gain percent = 5%.

Gain percent =

According to the given condition,

⇒ 5x = 100 (903 – x) (Transposing x to LHS)

⇒ 5x = 90300 – 100x (Removing bracket)

⇒ 5x + 100x = 90300 (Transposing 100x to LHS)

105x = 90300

⇒ x =

(Transposing 105 to RHS)

x = 860

∴ The cost price of the radio is Rs 860.
