Given :

A man loses 1/6 of its cost price by selling an almirah for ₹10,500.

To Find :

  • What is its cost price?

Solution :

Let its cost price be x.

Then, loss = x/6

As we know,

⟼ Selling Price = Cost Price - Loss

Therefore,

⟼ 10500 = x - x/6

⟼ 10500 = 6x - x/6

⟼ 10500 = 5x/6

⟼ 10500 × 6 = 5x

⟼ 10500 × 6/5 = x

⟼ x = 2100 × 6

⟼ x = 12600

Its cost price is ₹12,600.
