i ) Area of figure ( a )

= Area of [ ( 1 ) + ( 2 ) + ( 3 ) + ( 4 ) ]

= (4 × 2) + (6 × 1) + (2 × 3) +( 2 × 4 )

= 8 + 6 + 6 + 8

= 28 square cm

ii ) Area of the figure ( b )

= Area of [ ( 1 ) + ( 2 ) + ( 3 ) ]

= ( 5 × 1 ) + ( 2 × 1 ) + ( 2 × 1 )

= 5 + 2 + 2

= 9 cm²

I hope this helps you.

28 sq. cm and 9 sq. cm is the area of the figures (a) and (b)

Step-by-step explanation:

As we know,

Area of rectangle = l * b

1). Area of fig (a)

= {(1) + (2) + (3) + (4)}

= {(4 * 2) + (6 * 1) + (2 *3) + (2 * 4)

= 28 sq. cm

2). Area of fig (b)

= {(1) + (2) + (3)}

= (5 * 1) + (2 * 1) + (2 * 1)

= 5 + 2 + 2

= 9 sq. cm
