As the two equations are,
3x + 11y = 13 .... (1)
8x + 13y = 2 .... (2)
Taking value of y from eq (1),
11y = 13 - 3x
y = (13 - 3x)/11
Put this value of y into eq (2), we have
8x + 13*(13 - 3x)/11 = 2
8x + (169 -39x)/11 = 2
Simplifying,
88x + 169 - 39x = 22
49x = -147
x = -3
And y can be calculated as,
y = (13 - 3*-3)/11
y = 2
The value of x & y are -3 & 2.
