Matter can be categories into two types which are following:

1) Mixture

2) Pure substance

1) Mixture : Mixture is the combination of two or more than two substances which is physically combined not chemically. For example, salt in water and sugar in water etc.

2) Pure substance : There are two types of pure substances i. e. Element and compound.

Element is substance which can not broken down into simpler atom. For example, Cobalt, Copper etc

Compound is a substance which is made of two or more than two atoms that are combined chemically with each other. For example, water and sulfuric acid etc.
