Hey friend!!
We need two equations to solve them by substitution method..

Viveksinfh: p(x+y) =2pq ---------(1) and q(x–y) =2pq---------(2)

Your Question:

p(x+y)=q(x-y)=2pq

Answer:

i.e.,

    p(x+y) =2pq     .......(i)\\q(x-y)=2pq          ........(ii)

i.e.,

In (i),

           (x+y)= 2q......(iii)

           (x-y)=2p......(iv)

In (iv),

x=2p+y.......(v)

Substituting value of x in (iii),

=>2p+y+y=2q\\=>2p+2y=2q\\=>p+y=q\\=>y=q-p

Substituting value of y in (iv),

=>x-(q-p)=2p\\=> x=2p+(q-p)\\=>x=2p+q-p\\=>x=q+p

Therefore, x = q + p and y = q - p

Hope this answer helps you ^_^ !
