By using a cotton thread how will you find length of a curved line

Tie a knot at one side of the thread. Now take that knot as the starting point. Put the thread on the curved line and slowly slowly keep putting the thread on the line(Take a long thread). When the final point of the curved line is reached, with a pen mark a dot on the string exactly at that point which is coinciding with the final point of the curve. Now place the string over a scale. Keep the knot over the zero mark. The distance between the knot and the pen dot will give you the length of the curved line.
