By using factor theorem in the following examples, determine whether q(x) is a factor p(x) or not. i) p(x)= x3 -x 2 -4, q(x)= x-2 ii) p(x)=x3 +4x-5, q(x)= x+2

p(x)=2x3−x2−45

Divisor =q(x)=x−3

x=3

∴p(3)=2×(3)3−(3)2−45=2×27−9−45=54−54=0

Thus q(x) is a factor of p(x)
